UFA, 16 March 2017. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/.
A meeting was held in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia to support domestic manufacturers of coronary stents, with participation of Mikhail Babich, the Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of Russia to the Volga Federal District. It was noted that the share of Russian coronary stents increased from 3 percent in 2014 to 18 percent in 2016. This, among other things, was facilitated by the support measures provided by the state program "Development of pharmaceutical and medical industry" for 2013-2020 in the areas of subsidizing clinical trials of implantable medical devices and medical devices production organization.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan, procedures for stenting coronary arteries are carried out in eight institutions of the region. In 2016, 3,000 such operations were performed only in the Republican Cardiological Centre, 60 percent of which were performed using domestic stents. As noted in the institution, it is expected that this figure will be 80 percent in 2017.
The meeting participants discussed a possibility of increasing the presence of Russian manufacturers in the market of coronary stents and catheters. Russian companies over the past three years show growing production volumes, as well as an increase in investment activity in this industrial sector, the press service of the Chief Federal Inspector in the Republic of Bashkortostan informs.
