Bashkiria and Uzbekistan intend to develop cooperation

Today, on March 16, during the official visit of the Uzbekistan delegation, an agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bashkortostan and the Samarkand region was signed in Ufa. The document was endorsed by the vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan Pavel Barmin and the head of the CCI department of the Samarkand region Zhamshed Urakov.
The Minister of Economic Development RB Sergey Novikov delivered a welcoming speech to the business circles of the Samarkand region and Bashkortostan within the framework of the bilateral meeting. The head of the department noted that Bashkortostan conducts active foreign economic activity. For today trade relations with more than 100 foreign countries are established in the republic.
“Undoubtedly, Uzbekistan has been and remains for us a significant partner. As for the volume of trade, alas, today it is about 70 million US dollars,” said Sergey Novikov.
In turn, the representatives of the Uzbekistan delegation thanked their colleagues from Bashkortostan for organizing the meeting.
The ambassador stressed that Bashkortostan occupies an important place in the development of Uzbek-Russian relations, taking into account the economic, industrial and technological and scientific potential of the country, as well as close cultural and humanitarian ties, common languages, religion and traditions of the Bashkir and Uzbek peoples.
Presentations of the trade, economic and investment potential of Bashkortostan and the Samarkand region were made during the meeting. The prospects of business cooperation and opportunities for the implementation of mutually beneficial projects were discussed. The parties agreed on visits and discussed the opportunities for participation of businessmen in various forums, fairs and exhibitions.
Bashkortostan supplies to Uzbekistan the products of the chemical industry, ferrous metals and products from them, engineering products, equipment. Land transport, textile and food products are imported from Uzbekistan. 66 enterprises engaged in trade and restaurant activities, construction and housing and communal services with participation of capital from Uzbekistan operate in the territory of our republic.
